Lynas Corporation selected Aquatis to optimise their 8 MLD Advanced Mining Water Recycling Plant

Lynas Corporation, Ltd, a rare earth miner and producer has selected Aquatis to conduct a technical review and optimise their 8 mega liters per day advanced water recycling plant at Mount Weld in WA.

The plant will meet the demand for recycling water, thereby providing an alternative to limited bore water supplies in the region.

Developing effective systems for the treatment of mining effluent requires extensive knowledge and experience. The treatment stages include coagulation, flocculation, settling, multimedia and granular activated carbon (GAC) filtration, and a membrane solution which combines ultra-filtration (UF) followed by a brackish water reverse osmosis (RO) membrane process.

The study focuses on reducing energy consumption, chemical and operating costs. We are particularly proud to be working on this plant. It is great seeing a mining company minimising bore water use by recycling water and improving water use efficiency. Ensuring sustainability of water supply should be an important factor for any mining operation.
